Meet Anaita Arthur Veigas

Psychology, Relationship and the Work of Becoming

I am Anaita Arthur Veigas, a psychologist and PhD Scholar based in Mumbai. My work is shaped by a meeting point between psychological knowledge, lived human experience, and the relationships through which we learn to understand ourselves.

I support adults who want to look more honestly at the patterns influencing their lives — the way they think, attach, react, protect themselves, make decisions, and relate to others.

Some people come to therapy during a difficult season. Others come because they are tired of repeating familiar patterns, carrying an identity that no longer fits, or functioning well while feeling disconnected inside. Therapy can make space for both kinds of need.

I do not believe you need a perfect explanation before beginning. You can start with what you notice.

No pressure — just real clarity.

My formative experience included work and collaboration in hospital and mental-health settings in Mumbai, including Bombay Hospital, JRH, Nair Hospital, and Thane Regional Hospital. I also worked alongside psychiatrists and mental-health professionals during my early years of practice. These settings taught me to look beyond the presenting concern.

Anxiety may be connected to grief, attachment, identity, family expectations, trauma, perfectionism, or a body that has been living in prolonged alertness. Relationship difficulties may involve not only communication, but also fear, shame, trust, power, and learned ways of protecting oneself.I now work through private practice and offer sessions online across India and internationally in English and Hindi.

Depending on your needs, this philosophy may be supported by science-backed proven techniques from CBT, REBT, ACT, DBT, attachment-based therapy, somatic approaches, IFS/parts work, Gestalt therapy, mindfulness, compassion-focused work, or Gottman-informed couples interventions

My Story

I was not always as grounded as I am today.

I have been the person who reacted first and reflected later. The person who said yes while something inside was asking for no. The person who replayed conversations, trusted cautiously, loved deeply, and carried fears quietly until they began influencing my choices.

Over time, I began to understand that many patterns are not random weaknesses. They are ways of protecting ourselves that once made sense. They may have helped us belong, stay safe, avoid rejection, maintain control, or move through experiences we did not yet have the language to understand.

Healing, for me, is not about constructing a new personality. It is about developing enough awareness and safety to meet yourself more honestly — including the parts that feel afraid, ambitious, angry, ashamed, uncertain, or unfinished.

That understanding influences the way I work. It allows me to meet clients with warmth and curiosity, while remaining grounded in professional training, boundaries, and responsibility.

How I Understand Therapy

The person is larger than the problem

The person is larger than the problem A client is never only anxious, depressed, avoidant, overwhelmed, unproductive, or in conflict. Those descriptions may point to what is happening, but they do not describe the whole person. Therapy is an opportunity to understand the wider context: your history, relationships, body, beliefs, values, environment, responsibilities, and hopes.

The whole person matters

Therapy considers thoughts, emotions, behaviour, body, relationships, history, identity, and meaning.

Safety comes before depth

Trauma-informed therapy does not force disclosure or rush emotional processing. The pace of the work is collaborative.

Compassion & accountability belong together

Clients are met with warmth, but therapy also creates room for responsibility, change, and action.

My Therapeutic Orientation

My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and holistic. I pay attention to the connections between your inner world and the relationships, environments, and experiences that have shaped it.

There is no single approach that works for all. Depending on the work, I may draw from CBT, REBT, ACT, DBT, attachment-based therapy, somatic approaches, Internal Family Systems and parts work, Gestalt therapy, mindfulness, compassion-focused work, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Gottman-informed couples interventions.

These are not presented as a fixed package. The approach is selected according to your concerns, goals, history, readiness, and the therapeutic relationship we develop together.

Attachment-based thinking is especially relevant when a person is trying to understand trust, intimacy, abandonment fears, emotional distance, people-pleasing, conflict, or difficulty asking for support.

It helps us explore how earlier relational experiences may continue to influence present-day expectations and protective responses. The aim is not to place you into a permanent attachment category, but to develop greater choice, security, and awareness in relationships.

A trauma-informed approach also considers how stress may be experienced physically. Sometimes the body expresses what the mind has learned to suppress or move past too quickly. Body awareness can help us recognise activation, shutdown, tension, avoidance, and the need for pacing and safety.

For clients who want it, therapy can include questions of faith, spirituality, prayer, purpose, and meaning. Christian or faith-sensitive integration is optional and never imposed. Clients from different faiths, spiritual traditions, and worldviews are welcome.

Beyond Private Practice

Alongside therapy, I founded Here Mind, a mental-health and wellbeing brand that translates psychological ideas into accessible tools such as guided journals, educational resources, and reflective products.

The intention is to make emotional learning easier to carry into everyday life. Therapy can offer depth and relationship; thoughtfully designed tools can help people continue reflecting between meaningful conversations.

A Note for Anyone Considering Therapy

You do not need to decide whether your concerns are serious enough. You do not need to know the correct clinical language. You do not need to arrive with a complete history or a neatly organised story. You may begin with a question, a recurring pattern, a feeling you cannot explain, or the sense that the way you have been coping is no longer working. My role is not to define you by your most difficult moment. It is to help you understand yourself more clearly and create space for choices that feel more aligned, grounded, and intentional.

Your mindset governs your life.
