What is the difference between a coach and a psychologist?
Coaching is largely unregulated and training varies from a short course to accredited multi-year programmes. A psychologist has years of university study and supervised clinical practice, works under professional ethical standards, is trained to recognise signs of anxiety, depression and trauma, and can work with both goals and the patterns beneath them. Many coaches are skilled and ethical; the aim is informed choice.
Why can't I stay motivated even when I know what to do?
Knowing what to do rarely fixes procrastination or self-sabotage. The block is usually a pattern: a belief formed early, a fear, or a nervous system response. Psychologist-led mindset work identifies the pattern and tests new responses, rather than adding more motivation or discipline.
You don’t need more motivation.
You need to know what’s in the way.
If you are looking for mindset coaching online that goes deeper than affirmations and morning routines, this is it. I am a psychologist, and I help driven, thoughtful people understand the pattern behind the procrastination, perfectionism and self-doubt, and change it at the root rather than manage it forever.

Adding water to a full glass is not growth. It is a very well-organised way to overflow.
A coach who hands you more tools is not a villain. The glass is simply still full.
Empty it first. Then fill it consciously.
“The truth is that you are everything and yet nothing, that you are everywhere and yet nowhere, and that you are always becoming.”Anaita Arthur Veigas
You’ve read the books.
You already know what to do.
The morning routine. The planner. The podcast on discipline. The course on confidence. You understood every idea, agreed with all of it, and quietly went back to the same pattern by Thursday.
Then comes the second layer: the story that you are simply not disciplined enough, not resilient enough, not enough. It is a heavy thing to carry on top of the original problem, and it is almost never true.
What is in the way is usually a pattern: a belief you formed early, a fear that does its work quietly, or a nervous system that reads risk where there is only growth. That is exactly where psychology is useful.
The patterns that quietly
run a capable person.
Delay, then shame, then more delay
Rarely laziness. Usually fear of doing it imperfectly, or a task that touches something tender. We work with the emotion under the avoidance, not just the calendar.
Standards that never let you finish
Where high standards become a way to never be criticised, and never be done. We loosen the grip without lowering your ambition.
Success that still feels borrowed
The quiet expectation of being found out, however much you achieve. Often tied to older messages about worth and performance.
Saying yes while everything in you says no
Boundaries that feel like betrayal, and a calendar full of other people’s priorities. We trace where it began and practise something different.
A harsh inner voice you mistake for realism
Self-criticism dressed up as motivation. Research, including the field of my own doctoral work, suggests self-compassion supports drive rather than undermining it.
Playing smaller than you are
Not launching, not applying, not speaking up. Fear of failure and, often, fear of success and the exposure that comes with it.
Mindset isn’t a mood.
It’s a pattern with a history.
Positive thinking treats mindset as an attitude you can switch on. It is closer to a set of beliefs, habits and body responses that formed for good reasons, usually early, and that have been running ever since.
That is why willpower alone fails. You cannot out-discipline a belief that feels like a fact. What works is understanding the pattern, testing it against reality in small ways, and building a new response until it becomes the easier one.
Coach or psychologist?
Choose knowing the difference.
Many coaches are thoughtful, skilled and ethical, and good coaching genuinely helps people. This is not a case against coaching. It is a plain map of how the two roles differ, because most people are never told, and it affects what you get.
You are steady and want direction
- You are functioning well and have clear goals
- You want accountability and structure
- You need skills or strategy, such as career or business
- You have found a well-trained coach with a track record
The same thing keeps happening
- You have tried the tools and the pattern returns
- There is anxiety, low mood or a trauma history in the background
- Your inner critic is harsh and hard to shift
- You want to understand why, not just what to do
Six questions worth asking any coach or therapist.
- What is your training, and how long did it take? Ask for specifics, not a title.
- Which professional body or ethical code are you accountable to? And what happens if a client has a complaint?
- What will you do if I turn out to be struggling with something clinical? A good answer includes honest referral.
- How do you handle confidentiality? In writing, not just in conversation.
- What is your method, and what is it based on? Be wary of anyone who cannot explain it plainly.
- Do you have supervision or ongoing training? The best practitioners keep being checked and taught.
Psychologist-led.
Practical by design.
You get the warmth and accountability of good coaching, with the depth and honesty of clinical training underneath it.
We start with what’s in the way
Before goals and action plans, we map the pattern: when it shows up, what it protects, and what it costs you.
Evidence-based tools
CBT to work with the thoughts, ACT to move toward your values with the discomfort still present, and self-compassion practice to replace the inner critic.
Small experiments, real change
Between sessions you test new responses in ordinary life. Change that only happens in the session does not last.
Honest screening, always
If something clinical shows up underneath, I will tell you plainly. Sometimes the most useful thing I can say is that therapy would serve you better right now.
One clear next step.
Then the next one.
Most people are running on
a full glass.
Indians, about 197.3 million people, lived with a mental disorder in 2017. Most of the rest are simply tired, stuck and too busy to notice why.
Source: Lancet Psychiatry · India State-Level Disease Burden Initiative (2019)The share of people with a mental disorder in India who go untreated, depending on the condition. Above 60% for every condition except epilepsy.
Source: National Mental Health Survey 2015–16 · NIMHANS“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”Carl Rogers, On Becoming a Person
Therapy is not adding water
to a full glass.
“When we fill a glass with water, there is no space for more unless you empty it. So therapy with me will be around emptying yourself first and then filling yourself consciously. You cannot first look at why you allowed the glass to be full with water that was not consciously poured by you... and add more good water using some tools and techniques. Eventually, you wear out.”Anaita Arthur Veigas
“I used to say I don't know why people refuse to do the work. But the truth is, I know exactly why. It is called experiential avoidance. It is the absolute terror of uncertainty and the fear that if they actually feel their emotions, they will break. I get it. But knowing why you are hiding is no longer an excuse to stay hidden. It is a choice.”Anaita Arthur Veigas
That is the line between quick tools and deep work. Tools are useful. But tools poured into a full glass just overflow, and eventually you wear out. We empty first: the beliefs, the patterns, the generational conditioning you never consciously chose. Then you fill yourself on purpose.
How we actually work.
No chaos.
This is not a casual drop-in clinic where you show up whenever you feel overwhelmed. Rebuilding your internal reality takes a structured container. Here is the exact process, step by step.
Reaching out & baseline realityThe Initiation
You reach out. If we are a potential fit, I send you the informed consent form and the baseline assessment form straight away. I need to know exactly what is in your glass before we begin emptying it.
Exploratory vs. the packageThe Commitment
Two choices. Book a single exploratory session to test whether you are ready for this level of truth, or step up and commit to a weekly package, which starts at 12 sessions. Packages are paid through Razorpay by weekly auto-debit. Single sessions and lowered-rate sessions are strictly subject to availability, because my schedule prioritises clients committed to the weekly container.
Time, date & pre-workThe Preparation
We lock in a time and date. Before we speak, you complete the pre-session form. You do not show up unprepared. You bring your reality to the table so we do not waste a single minute.
Showing upThe Session
You show up. We do not sugarcoat; we get to the truth. We balance mind, body, spirit and emotions, addressing what is actually happening with radical directness and absolute compassion.
Scheduling & feedbackThe Accountability
Before the session closes, we schedule the exact date of the next one. Therapy with me is like breathing. Therapy with me is like eating. It happens consistently. After every session you submit a feedback rating, so I can track your evolution and keep us focused on your growth.
Doing the heavy liftingThe Integration
You do not leave the work in the room. Between sessions you practise, you reflect on your notes, and you apply what we uncover to your financial, personal and social life.
Rinse and repeatThe Continuation
You show up for the next one. We keep going. We keep emptying the glass, pulling out the conditioning you never chose, and refilling you consciously until your foundation holds.
Two ways in.
One standard.
“Yes, elite therapy is an investment. I started out charging ₹500 a session as a newbie, learning my craft. True psychological architecture takes years of rigorous clinical training and continued education, and that is what you are paying for. And let’s be brutally honest: my fee is a fraction of what it costs to stay stuck in a job that underpays you, distracted, draining your wealth on temporary escapes.”Anaita Arthur Veigas
A single exploratory session lets you test the depth of the work. The package is where the work actually happens. Either way, you reach out first and I send the forms. Every session is 50 minutes.

This is for you if…
- You are ready to show up every single week
- You want the truth, delivered with compassion
- You will do the work between sessions
This is not for you if…
- You want a quick fix
- You want someone to sugarcoat your excuses
- You want drop-in support whenever things feel too much (I am not a crisis service)
I am fiercely protective of my time and energy, and I take growth seriously. I do not promise outcomes; I promise honesty, rigour and a container that holds.
Not a crisis service. If you are in crisis, please contact Vandrevala Foundation +91 9999 666 555 (24/7, free) or iCall 9152987821 (Mon–Sat). Outside India: findahelpline.com.

The work does not stay in the room.
Neither should the practice.
Step six of the container is integration: you practise, you reflect, you apply. The 7-Minute Mind Journal is the tool I built for exactly that. India’s first mind-body integrated self-care journal. Seven minutes a day. One clear next step. No blank pages.
- A 62-day structured system for mind, body, emotions and behaviour
- 243-page hardcover, 6×9 inches, 120 GSM paper that does not bleed
- Written by a licensed psychologist (India), for beginners and advanced journalers alike
A daily practice, not a replacement for therapy. When you are ready for the full weekly container, the package above is where the deeper work happens.
A psychologist who is
also in your corner.
I am Anaita Arthur Veigas: a psychologist, trauma-informed therapist and PhD Scholar in self-compassion and mindfulness, based in Mumbai and working online worldwide. Seven years and over 3,000 clinical conversations in.
I come to mindset work from the clinical side, which means I take patterns seriously, ask what they are protecting, and know when something needs therapy rather than a strategy. I will push you, and I will be kind while I do it.
My research on self-compassion shapes everything here. Being harder on yourself is rarely what makes people change; understanding yourself well enough to act differently usually is.
Questions people ask
before they begin.
You reach out by email at care@anaitaarthurveigas.com. If we are a potential fit, I send you the informed consent form and the baseline assessment form straight away. Once you commit, I send a secure Razorpay link for payment, we lock in a time, you complete a short pre-session form, and we begin. Nothing is casual and nothing is wasted.
A single exploratory session is available, subject to availability, at INR 5,000 (USD 180 for international clients) so you can experience the depth of the work. Beyond that, the work happens in a weekly package of 12 sessions at INR 5,000 per session. This is not a drop-in clinic. If you are in crisis right now, please contact Vandrevala Foundation +91 9999 666 555 (24/7) or iCall 9152987821 (Mon–Sat).
It is psychologist-led mindset coaching: focused on growth, habits, beliefs and the patterns that keep you stuck. It is not treatment. Because I am a psychologist, I can also recognise when something clinical sits underneath, and if therapy would serve you better I will tell you honestly and we can shift without starting over.
Coaching is largely unregulated, and training ranges from a short course to accredited multi-year programmes. A psychologist has years of university study and supervised clinical practice, works under the ethical standards of the profession, is trained to notice signs of anxiety, depression and trauma, and can work with both your goals and what sits beneath them. Many coaches are skilled and ethical; the point is to choose knowing what you are choosing.
No. Most people who come for mindset work are high-functioning and simply tired of the same pattern repeating. You do not need to be struggling in a clinical sense to want to understand yourself better and change how you operate.
Procrastination and the shame loop that follows it, perfectionism, imposter syndrome, people-pleasing, low confidence, fear of failure and visibility, stalling motivation, and decision paralysis. The label matters less than the pattern underneath it.
Yes. Between sessions you will have small, specific experiments: things to notice, try and report back on. Not busywork and not a 40-page workbook. The aim is change you can feel in your ordinary week.
Many people notice more clarity within the first few sessions, and early shifts in how they respond within a couple of months. Deeper change in long-standing beliefs takes longer. I will not promise you a 30-day transformation, and I will always be honest about where you are in the process.
Then I will say so plainly and we can move from growth work to therapy with the same person, without starting again or being referred away. That continuity is one of the practical advantages of working with a psychologist.
Yes to both. Everything you share is held under standard professional confidentiality. Sessions are online by secure video and we find a time that works across time zones. I am based in Mumbai; if you live in another country, we will talk through what that means for you before we begin.
The exploratory session is INR 5,000 (USD 180 for international clients), 50 minutes. The starting package is 12 weekly sessions at INR 5,000 per session (INR 60,000), paid through Razorpay by weekly auto-debit (12 × INR 5,000). International clients: USD 180 per session across 12 sessions (USD 2,160), paid by card in USD through Razorpay. A lowered rate (INR 3,750 / USD 135) is occasionally available, strictly subject to availability: email care@anaitaarthurveigas.com to check.
If you are in crisis, please contact a helpline first: Vandrevala Foundation +91 9999 666 555 (24/7, free) or iCall 9152987821 (Mon–Sat) in India, or findahelpline.com for free services in other countries. Mindset coaching is not crisis support.
Stop white-knuckling it.
Understand what’s in the way.
One email is all it takes to begin. Tell me what keeps repeating, and we will take it from there.
